TRINE Issue 007

August 2021

Welcome to TRINE Issue 007!

For the last month I have been practicing what we preach and placing wellness at the centre of my actions. Making rest my priority I have been taking regular naps, implementing personal boundaries, meditating and making the effort to be present in the moment. Through tuning into the needs of my mind and body I have noticed so many positive changes in my day to day life. I have more patience, my relationships with family and friends have grown deeper and I am finding joy in the mundanities of my daily routine. Through slowing down and taking the pressure off myself to constantly deliver content and projects what I have taken the time to create is more thoughtful, liberating and representative of its moment.

The amazing and intuitive Nap Ministry examines rest as a radical tool for community healing, citing sleep deprivation as a racial and social justice issue. Over the past eight years I have felt the constant pressure to overwork myself, delivering multiple curatorial projects for multiple organisations, forsaking sleep, weekends and precious time with my loved ones because if I was not seen to be constantly working there was no way my white male counterparts would even consider me capable. Today I am making the conscious decision to end this harmful cycle for good.

In a society that pushes you to monetise every waking moment of your existence this is what resistance looks like.

Sending you love, light and abundance,

Shasti

(A well rested!) Curator, Creative and Agent of Change.

~Plan~

Tune in to the movements of the universe and use them to support your decision making and forward planning. There is no bad astrology, nor can it be used to predict the future. Astrology is best used as a tool to help you navigate the different areas of your life.

August’s Key Astrological Transits

Tuesday 3rd August ~ Mercury Square Uranus (Leo - Taurus 15 degrees)

When Uranus squares Mercury it would be wise to expect disruptions, especially those which occur as a result of unexpected information. This is not the day to go over the details with a fine tooth comb, instead place your emphasis on creative brainstorming (the more out there they are the better!). Remember that creative thinking is a process of exploring possibilities and not only about developing an outcome.

Friday 6th August ~ Sun square Uranus (Leo - Taurus 15 degrees)

The Sun in its home sign of Leo calls upon us to harness our creative expression, when square with Uranus (a planet that is known to revolutionise) we will feel a strong pull towards exercising our autonomy and freedom. Taurus is a sign that values and harnesses the power of the material world. A Taurean Uranus square to a Leo Sun suggests that the systems we have been relying on to provide us with stability are dampening our ability to harness our true creative potential. Unexpected jarring news circulates the next few days, it would be best not to sign a contract or agreement.

Sunday 8th August ~ New Moon in Leo (16 degrees)

A New Moon in Leo requires us to seek our own approval and not only rely on the acceptance of others. As this lunation reflects the energy from a Leo Sun it also insists that we become comfortable receiving the praise and attention we deserve. Manifestations that support you in expressing yourself creatively and taking inspired action to build your own self esteem will be powerful at this New Moon. This lunation will make our responsibilities feel very heavy due to its opposition with Saturn.

Tuesday 10th August ~ Mercury opposes Jupiter Retrograde (Rx) (Leo - Aquarius 28 degrees)

Just before bidding farewell to Leo to enter its earth home sign of Virgo, this opposition with Jupiter (which is creating abundance through intellect in Aquarius) provides us with a push to go big or go home. When pitching remember to cover all the details and not just focus on a project’s expansive view.

Wednesday 11th August ~ Mercury enters Virgo

Mercury is not only at home in the earth sign Virgo, but exalted. Mercury in Virgo asks us to be thoughtful in our approach. It is mindful, critical and precise. You will excel when you analyse, categorise and integrate information rather than merely disperse it. Acting like a collector the information, facts and data you receive during this period may be meant to be filed away for future use. Alternatively, now could be the time to bring integrate interesting information you retained previously into your work and communication strategies.

Wednesday 18th August ~ Mercury conjunct Mars (Virgo 13 degrees)

The presence of these two planets in Virgo will make your mind feel extra sharp. Writing and editing complex narratives will come naturally to you today. If your practice sits within craft or design this is the day to fine tune any details that require absolute precision. With this conjunction there is also a tendency to be hard on yourself and highly self critical. Remember that complete perfection is not only unobtainable but boring. Even the most beautiful diamonds have slight flaws.

Thursday 19th August ~ Sun opposes Jupiter Rx (Leo - Aquarius 27 degrees)

You may feel confident and ready to begin tackling a large and lucrative project. If you have a business partner or collaborator ensure that the workload and profit sharing is fair as you may not be getting the best deal for you. Seek external advice if necessary and remember that it is never too late to renegotiate the terms of an agreement.

Friday 20th August ~ Mercury trine Uranus Rx (Virgo-Taurus 15 degrees)

An unexpected communication or information will be a welcomed surprise. This trine encourages spontaneity. If Covid restrictions allow, this is a great day for spur of the moment trip to some lush, green countryside. This environment will provide the rejuvenation and cleansing you crave prior to the coming Full Moon.

Sunday 22nd August ~ Sun enters Virgo, Full Moon in Aquarius (29 degrees)

When the Sun is in Virgo it prides itself on never stopping at ‘good enough’. Here we will feel invigorated by spending the necessary time, effort and energy perfecting our craft. While the emphasis is placed on getting the job done (and done right!) during Virgo season we will feel most at peace when we are working on something we find meaningful. There can be the tendency to search out each individual flaw (whether these are our own flaws or the flaws related to a project) but by refocusing your awareness on being of service you will dissuade your inner demons. During this period it is natural to be soothed by cleaning, clearing and cleansing as our daily rituals become rites of passage.

Today also sees the second Full Moon in Aquarius to occur in a row. Full moons ask us to focus on the the person, place or thing that is right in front of us and bring with them a culmination of sorts. This may be the conclusion to an event that started following July’s Full Moon in Aquarius. A Full Moon in Aquarius brings out our need to find logical conclusions to events where we were denied emotional closure. Learning, communicating and understanding is key with this moon as it is only by zeroing in on the root of the problem that we can innovate and disrupt in a way that finds solutions. When the moon is in Aquarius there is a tendency to overlook your personal feelings to achieve a system that works for everyone. Remember that your emotional intelligence and experience is worth just as much as cold hard intellect.

Monday 23rd August ~ Venus trine Saturn Rx (Libra - Aquarius 9 degrees)

This positive trine between Venus and Saturn will see a collaboration or partnership become more stable and potentially place both of you on equal footing. Place trust in your integrity and skills, you can demand your worth in a manner that doesn’t come across as overbearing.

Tuesday 24th August ~ Mercury opposes Neptune Rx

Neptune’s opposition to Mercury suggests that there is a cloud where preciseness and clarity is needed. Key information is missing or is being kept from you and will come to light in the weeks to follow. As a result it would be best not to make any long term commitments. If possible delay signing any paperwork until September 4th when conditions will be more favourable.

Thursday 26th August ~ Mercury trine Pluto Rx (Virgo - Capricorn 25 degrees)

This trine between Mercury and Pluto, planet of hidden resources and wealth suggests that information, or access to materials that were previously withheld from you will now be facilitated. As Pluto also rules the influential people within your sphere don’t be afraid to reach out to your network to find the resources that you need.

Sunday 29th August ~ Mercury enters Libra

When in Libra, Mercury is fair and just, bringing with it a pull to present and listen to both sides of the story. During this period we are encouraged to focus our efforts on initiating relationships and aesthetic partnerships. We will feel compelled to act diplomatically and meet people half way. In the process of weighing up the options take care to not be indecisive as even the wrong decision is better than no decision at all. Communication strategies that are relatable and come across as easygoing will be the most enticing during this transit.

~Rest~

Nurture the needs of your mind, body and soul so that your personal wellness is placed at the centre of your actions.

August’s guided meditation (found at the top of the page) focuses on sparking creativity helping you to view creativity as a process rather than a means to achieve an outcome.

Background Music:  Kundalini Awakening 133 by Healing Meditation Zone.
